Teaching Volunteer Program in Vietnam

Volunteer Teaching Program
run for the children which are not able to send in school because of poverty by their parents and also for Below Poverty Line families. The power of education cannot be denied by anyone, but there are many children in rural Vietnam who are devoid of basic education due to financial constraints. Every year there are many foreign tourists which travel Vietnam with the purpose of carrying volunteering work in Vietnam along with travelling and cultural exchange. They can join the program and contribute a little to this noble cause. With English becoming a global language for communication now, it becomes imperative to teach English to the kids. The teaching volunteer project executed by VEEV is one such effort.

We have build up a center in rural areas where these children get free daily education and stationery; Presently there are 200 children benefiting from the program and we aim towards increasing the number considerably. Our aim is to build a solid base for children so that they can go confidently for higher education.

Education is the basis for development of any society. We have taken this initiative to help the children of the villages in rural of Vietnam attain basic Teaching English education. We aim at making education an interesting affair for children by offering several extracurricular activities like drama, sports too along with the basic teaching. The dropout rate in the villages is high due to the bad financial conditions and parents prefer their children to assist them in work rather than sending them to school. The program also strives to decrease the dropout rate by convincing parents to send their children to school. We also offer free books and stationary to children.

The volunteers associated with this program will be entitled to a number of tasks. The schools in the rural areas of Vietnam do have teachers appointed, but sadly even they are not well versed with the English language. Volunteers will be required to not only teach English to the children but also to help teachers improve their skills which will be helpful for them in future. It will also be on the volunteers to introduce activities like dance, music, games and painting in the teaching program to create a fun learning environment which will motivate children to be regular to the classes. The focus will have to be both on the school syllabus and also on helping children develop their skills. The volunteers can also assist in other subjects like Mathematics, arts and science as per their interest.
Teaching Project Vietnam by VEEV will make you work directly in local rural area school centers run by NGO. This project is very rewarding and it fulfills all my interest for the reason i Came Vietnam to Volunteer, “ says Eric Turner from U.K our past volunteer.”
